God Isn’t Disappointed in You

I don’t know what has happened to the gospel. I don’t know how we have twisted the Bible into something so far from what it is and the beautiful story that it tells. I have to think one of the main reasons the Bible gets grossly gutted of the good news is because the Bible has been and still is being used to control people to create man’s kingdoms, to glorify men and for man’s agenda to be done.

When this happens and the Bible is used to get power, fame, glory, and money, the Good News is silenced. It’s time to rediscover the Good News because the bad news is killing us. I am exhausted by a message that tells us what we need to do and not what Christ has done. I am so tired of “christians” using the Bible to glorify themselves, beat others up, make money, control people, to sell the “Christian American dream” and to justify self righteousness, idolatry, gluttony, pride and greed. I don’t know about you but I am in desperate need of hearing the Good News that answers my daily fears, heals my pain and removes my guilt and shame.

The Bible is a story about mankind being brought together to understand that we all share the same design, we share the same brokenness and we all share the same need for truth, love, joy, hope, mercy, forgiveness, mystery, wonder, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The Good News is that Christ lived, died and was resurrected to announce he has come to heal our broken hearts, bind up our wounds, forgive our sins, give us His righteousness and secure everything we need to live and experience a full life here and now.

  • When you know that you are completely known and fully accepted, what does that truth free you from and what does that truth free you to do?
  • When you know that you are forever loved and never alone, what does that truth free you from and what does that truth free you to do?
  • When you know that you are a perfect child of God, who delights in you at all times and all places, what does that truth free you from and what does that truth free you to do?
  • When you know that there is ABSOLUTELY nothing you can do to make God love you more and there is nothing you can do to make God love you less, what does that truth free you from and what does that truth free you to do?
  • When you know that you can trust in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, what does that truth free you from and what does that truth free you to do?
  • When you know that you can trust in The Finished work of Christ, what does that truth free you from and what does that truth free you to do?
  • When you know that you cannot mess up the plan of a Sovereign, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, loving and good Dad, what does that truth free you from and what does that truth free you to do?
  • When you know that you can be full of doubts, weakness, insecurities, mistakes, hopelessness, struggle, hypocrisy and even sin, and have the gift of faith that keeps growing regardless of anything you “do”, what does that truth free you from and what does that truth free you to do?

The Gospel is simply that God loves you and He has done everything through Christ for you to feel, taste, touch, see, smell and hear His crazy, stubborn love at all times and in all places. God is not disappointed in you, He loves you!

The more we can put time and energy into this relationship with God, the more we can become the beautiful people we are naturally designed to be and we can help others do the same.
