Being still

Something amazing and mysterious happens in winter. Trees shed their leaves and sometimes their skin. I wonder if this is the season that we can draw closest to creation and hear her deepest truths- when winter has moved in and invited her to be still and rest, and allow the Spirit to be at work- transforming her to new life. Though it looks like she is dying, is she actually being made new. And are we, like creation, supposed to come and rest, and wait with her for the coming of spring and the promise of resurrection. Perhaps, the gift of the winter season is the opportunity to create the space for transformation by coming hither once again to the One who promises rest and to be loved by Him as we are- naked and unashamed.
